Hi there! I’m Mercey.
Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Wellness Writer + Content Consultant
It may not look like it from Instagram, but the truth is wellness is about so much more than what we eat and how much we work out. I’m living proof of it. When I was working in New York City I was eating a strict Paleo/anti-inflammatory diet, working out at the top fitness studios in the city with the best trainers almost every day, and writing about wellness and healthy living for a living. I thought I was going to be the healthiest and fittest I’ve ever been, but I found a few months later that I was very wrong, and soon everything I thought I knew about wellness would change .
My wellness journey is one that took a lot of time and of course, is still a work in progress. But one of the biggest shifts that has happened for me is when I realized wellness is a necessity, not a selfish pursuit. Because when you feel good, take care of yourself, get decent sleep, and move your body in a way that feels good and energizing then you can give so much more to others, whether it’s at work, or at home and in your relationships.
I know how easy it is to ignore the warning signs our bodies give us—I totally ignored them for a long time, not knowing that how I was living was going to take me months, maybe even years to fix. Thankfully, I was in an environment surrounded by wellness experts, leading functional medicine doctors, and wellness editors, so I was able to put the pieces together and eventually make lifestyle changes that helped me feel better.
Wellness is complicated. What you eat is important, but just as important is how the relationships in your life support you. I also believe you can’t be optimally healthy or happy if you hate your job or are bored and unfulfilled at work. The truth is you spend more time working than doing anything else, so if you don’t feel good or engaged at work, then that carries over to every aspect of your life.
After launching my writing career at Well+Good in NYC, I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the leading editors, experts, nutritionists, and fitness trainers in the industry. My passion is sharing what I’ve learned from these amazing experts with others—in addition to writing about it for websites or magazines. So I decided to enroll at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2018 to study holistic health and nutrition coaching so that I can share my passion for health and wellness with others in a new way.
So that’s why I’m here now. I want to help women cut through the noise and red tape of wellness and figure out what really works for them when it comes to nutrition, fitness, and wellness. It’s time to ditch the overwhelm and get rid of food perfectionism and anxiety for good.
If you’re ready to get serious about reaching your wellness goals and want to gain some clarity about what works for you, let’s work together to make it happen.
